California in Review

Well, I’m back and I crazy do not want to be. California was awesome. We went to San Fransisco (parking was atrocious), which was about as far as DC is from here. We went to this place that I dubbed the “Planequarium” as it had a planetarium, aquarium, museum, artificial rainforest and a museum thing. It was pretty rad. I also got to see all of the big computer software companies’ buildings like McAffee, Yahoo, and Google. Taquerias are awesome, by the way. For those of you who do not know about Taquerias are these little taco places that have legit Mexican tacos and burritos. The one we went to also had Mexican Coke, which has sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup. It was all really sweet.

On Saturday, we went to one to the beaches. That was not so awesome. It was cold and windy and it smelled like gross. Oh, and we also had to climb down onto the beach on this odd little path that was carved into the cliff. Afterwards, we went to this better beach. for anyone who has seen The Lost Boys, it was that beach. The problem was, the boardwalk was kind of lame and closed early (right before I could get funnel cake), had a dead sea lion on the beach, and there were no Vampires.

The biggest difference I found was that California does not have speed traffic cops (there were a few but not nearly compared to Maryland). This may the reason for why so many people do not know how to drive in California! Even so, it was weird not worrying about if the cops are there with a radar gun.

California Eff Tee Dub

To start, I should mention that I did not get much sleep this past day (and as it is still 11:50 pm West Coast, this is still Friday!). I got about half an hour before my flight and maybe as much on it (though probably less). First off, it was the first time I have ever been on a plane and I rolled by myself. AS such, I think I annoyed the people in the security checkout line. But you know what, they could have given me some sort of instruction. Then, I thought I left my iPod at the security checkpoint. Turns out, I put it in my jacket pocket so I would not have full pant pockets.

I get on the plane at 6:45 in the morning and fly to Denver. Man, I loved the view from that high up. Both of my flights I had window seats with no one sitting next to me (though there was someone at the end of the aisle). It was pretty rad. I watched  a movie on my huge laptop that was incredibly inconvenient. Then, I went to Denver, got some pretty bad airport food and waited for my connection. In the meantime, I charged my laptop.

The next flight left at 12:15 Denver time (so it was like 2 in the afternoon for you guys). Man, those mountains were beautiful. I mean, at the end of the range, it looked like they were reaching a hand out and trying to pull me back to that serene setting. Then, it was brown. Lots of brown. Eventually, I just hooked up my iPod and listened to the song I had stuck in my head all day. Eventually I got a few minutes of sleep. As I was leaving, my phone jumped out of my pocket. That was annoying. Eventually, I got it back and got some good ol’ California lunch. No joke, it was a giant chicken salad taco thing. It was awesome. It turns out, my sister and brother-in-law live like a block away form that guy who killed his family and then committed suicide because the economy was bad. That plus the homework was kind of a downer.

On a lighter note, when I was done with my essay, we got to play put the collar back on the naked cat and then went out to get sushi. We then hit up a real bar, a nice Irish pub. Now we’re back and I am running on my 37th(?) hour of not sleep (with the exception of those 40 or some total minutes throughout the day). Pretty roxxorz, AMIRITE? (I am right). Tomorrow we head to the beach.

Also, San Jose’s terminal C is crazy lame. Now you know (AND KNOWING IS HALF THE BATTLE!).
